About Aubrey

Howdy, y'all!

Okay, really, I'm not that country. I actually enjoy living in the middle of the city and within five minutes of the closest Target, mall, grocery store and bookstore. Oh, and shoes. There are three Payless Shoe Stores within a five mile radius of my humble abode, I kid you not.

So, you want to know all about Aubrey? Great! Sit down, kick off your shoes, grab some popcorn and prepare to be entertained.

Or not, I'm really kind of boring.

I am Texas-born and Texas-bred and proudly tell people my hometown is Waco, Texas. Situated smack dab in between Austin and the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, I like to think I have the best of borth worlds--a mid-sized town that feels like a small town, but a short driving distance away from the fantastic shopping of DFW (not to mention the Dallas Cowboys) or the music scene in Austin (and IKEA, I can't ever forget about IKEA).

I graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor of arts degree in 2004, moved a little bit, had a few different jobs, and then finally settled back down in Waco and decided to pursue this crazy dream called writing.

I've always loved words, started reading and writing around the age of two and a half and simply never stopped. By the sixth grade I'd stumbled upon a boxed up collection of Harlequin Romances from the 80s and was hooked on romance. From there I branched out to Johanna Lindsey and Virginia Henley, Jude Deveraux and Kathleen E. Woodiwess. In high school I began to read more contemporary and time travel romances, but once I discovered Susan Elizabeth Phillips I knew I'd found my favorite genre--romantic comedy.

In the spring of 2006 I decided to apply (after some intense nudging from a friend) to Seton Hill University's Writing Popular Fiction program. I have to say that joining the SHU WPF community and working towards a Master of Arts degree was one of the best decisions I ever made. I honed my writing skills, learned so much and met some of the most amazing people you could imagine. I graduated June 29, 2008.
